River Park’s streak continued today as they ran out 7 – 0 winners against Chelmsford City this afternoon at River Park Stadium.
The Griffins still without a lot of their regular starters not playing and after a big FA Cup came the Griffins were still too good.
Striker Dave Harding got the Griffins off to a flyer when he scored on 3 minutes from a well placed shot. He was able to double the lead when the referee awarded River Park a penalty.
Harding has been deadly accurate from the spot this season, and was able to put it into the back of the net without any issues.
An error from Chelmsford’s Kurt Robinson allowed centre-back David Gilligan to score a goal, Gilligan isn’t a known goalscorer and he celebrated hard at the rare goal.
Dave Harding’s third goal was a freaky effort that would have blown the roof off the stadium if there was one.
Not content with just 3 goals in the first half, Harding scored his third with a powerful strike on the edge of the area on 36 minutes just 3 minutes after the last one had gone in.
River Park went into the break feeling pretty happy with their abilities, Ben Sandy who was back in the team showed why he was apart of the Asian All-Star XI providing the Griffins will a lot of runs out of their defensive third.
In the second half it was much of the same for Chelmsford, River Park weren’t letting go of the ball, and Chelmsford were left chasing it. Munez was subbed onto the pitch replacing Hudson-Bendtner who was doing well in his support of Harding today.
Harding was also later subbed out for Danny Deans, Deans and Munez were slowly making their mark, and it was Munez who added another goal for River PArk with a curling shot from the edge of the area.
Centre-back Petar Copic completed the rout again finding space in the six-yard box and just headed it into the back of the net.
River Park have now won twenty-seven games in a row, and do not look like giving up their win streak, the Griffins now battle Bath in their FA Trophy clash on Saturday, heading into the game buoyed by the news they will regain their starting XI.
